Cheerleaders for climate action! #GreatClimateRace
by Franke James
On a cloudy Vancouver day with glass and concrete towers looming…
I saw Polar Bears roaming freely
I saw Climate Action Heroes smiling and flashing victory signs…
I saw the clock ticking — because climate change is a race against time…
I saw the racers take off…
I sprung off too… and saw people holding placards. What are they protesting?
Oh! They’re not protestors — they’re cheerleaders for climate action…
Using humour and a little vanity to inspire action. Nice!
I saw a band serenading the racers and more cheerleaders — this time with pompoms.
I saw this Sun-tastic idea to brighten up Vancouver!
I saw “Save the Polar Bears” and realized I misread the sign…
I saw a young woman telling me to hurry up…
I saw this sign — and realized that included me.
I saw Ban Ki Moon’s quote opposite “You look so skinny” and wondered which would inspire more people.
I saw this and knew we have a bright energy future.

I saw an opportunity for a selfie at the 8km mark and grabbed it!
I saw the hero who got 1,000 people out for the Great Climate Race in Vancouver.
And I knew it was just the beginning of a great movement because it lived up to the promise “the most fun you’ve ever had changing the world”.
Cheers for Ben West and the Great Climate Race team for such a fun way to change the world. Take a bow!
1000+ runners today at the #GreatClimateRace and even more virtual racers from around the world. #changingtheworld
